From Bishop Burgos: Help Someone Experience the Gift of Camp

By UNY Communications | Email

Editor's Note: The following note was sent to United Methodists of Upper New York on Tuesday, June 15, 2026 on behalf of Bishop Héctor A. Burgos-Núñez about encouraging someone to experience camp this summer.

Dear siblings in Christ,

Summer at our Camp & Retreat Ministries is a joyful way people of all ages grow closer to God, to one another, and to the beauty of creation. Whether hiking, swimming, studying Scripture, creating art, or gathering around the campfire, campers step into a community where they can love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously.

Encourage Someone to Experience the Gift of Camp

Our sites are still welcoming registrations for Summer 2026, and I encourage you to help someone experience the gift of camp—someone from your family, your church, or your wider community who would be blessed by time in God’s creation.

Financial Assistance Available

Each site offers financial assistance because we never want money to stand in the way of someone encountering Christ through camp. Site Directors are ready to help families find a path forward, and many local churches also offer support. If you'd like to financially support children going to camp, consider making a donation to the Campership Fund Advance Special here.

Camp & Retreat Ministries deeply shaped my own life. I would not be who I am today without those sacred summers. I hope you’ll help someone register and discover that same joy this year.

Together in the journey,

Bishop Héctor A. Burgos-Núñez
