GENERAL & NORTHEASTERN JURISDICTIONAL CONFERENCES
The General & Northeastern Jurisdictional Conferences of The United Methodist Church are gatherings where United Methodists come together to discern the future of the Church, set policy, and provide leadership for the denomination on both a global and regional level.

GENERAL CONFERENCE
The General Conference is The United Methodist Church's highest legislative body, setting policies, approving budgets, and guiding church direction. This body, made up of delegates for every annual conference, gathers every four years.

There is an equal amount of laity (non-clergy) and clergy delegates. The last gathering was held in 2024 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The next session is scheduled for May 8-18, 2028, at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis.

NORTHEASTERN JURISDICATIONAL CONFERENCE
The Northeastern Jurisdiction is made up of ten episcopal areas. An episcopal area consists of an annual conference (or conferences) to which a bishop is assigned by the jurisdictional conference. The bishop lives within the bounds of the episcopal area and presides over the work of the annual conference(s).

The episcopal areas include Baltimore Washington-Peninsula Delaware (Bishop LaTrelle M. Easterling), Eastern Pennsylvania-Greater New Jersey Episcopal Area (Bishop Cynthia Moore-Koikoi), New England-New York Episcopal Area (Bishop Thomas J. Bickerton), Susquehanna-Upper New York Episcopal Area (Bishop Héctor A. Burgos-Núñez), West Virginia Episcopal Area (Bishop Debra Wallace-Padgett), and Western Pennsylvania Episcopal Area (Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball).
