ABOUT THE UMC
The United Methodist Church (UMC) is a global denomination that opens hearts, opens minds, and opens doors through active engagement with our world. The mission of The United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
John Wesley started the Methodist movement in 18th century England. His teachings on practical divinity (living out our faith) and appeals to reason and experience form important aspects of United Methodist practice today.

GENERAL & NEJ CONFERENCE
General Conference is The United Methodist Church's highest decision-making body, gathering global delegates every four years to set church-wide policies and update the Book of Discipline. The Northeastern Jurisdictional Conference (NEJ) meets after General Conference and includes delegates from annual conferences across the Northeast, including Upper New York. Its primary responsibilities are electing and assigning bishops and supporting regional ministry. Together, they guide the Church’s direction globally and regionally.
