2026 LEADERSHIP GATHERING
The Council of Bishops is hosting a Leadership Gathering in Calgary, Alberta, Canada October 20-24, 2026, bringing together bishops, clergy, and lay leaders from across the region to share vision, imagination, and direction for the future of the Church.

WHAT THE GATHERING WILL EXPLORE
Unlike General Conference, the Leadership Gathering is not a legislative event. Participants will engage in worship, presentations, and small-group conversations centered on five key areas: discipleship, leadership, impact, stewardship, and accountability.
These discussions will draw on the experiences and perspectives of United Methodists worldwide, including feedback from more than 12,000 people who participated in a global survey. The goal is to explore the Church's current challenges, imagine new possibilities for ministry, and identify insights that can help guide its future. Key takeaways will be shared with the wider Church in a report expected in January 2027.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Although in-person attendance is by invitation, United Methodists throughout Upper New York can participate from wherever they are.
Worship services and large-group sessions will be livestreamed, providing opportunities to follow conversations and hear from leaders across the worldwide Church. Congregations and individuals are also encouraged to support the gathering through prayer, using a series of devotions prepared by United Methodist bishops.
Livestream begins on Wednesday, October 21.
