Meet Robyn Vernon: 2026 Leadership Gathering representative
By UNY Communications | Email
Robyn Vernon serves as the Site Director at Skye Farm Camp & Retreat Center. A camp lover and passionate United Methodist, Robyn believes in the power of immersing oneself in God’s creation and building meaningful connections within community. These passions align with the spirit of the 2026 UMC Leadership Summit, where leaders will gather at the end of October 2026 to explore ways to awaken hope, amplify vision, and set the stage for a renewed movement of faith across The United Methodist Church.
She is excited that this gathering is in a new format and that young voices are being uplifted. This gathering will be an opportunity for folks to dream about what it means to be United Methodist and how we are being called to love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously. Robyn is hopeful that the summit will bring forth new ideas and spark meaningful change.
Robyn is one of three representatives from the Susquehanna-Upper New York Episcopal Area. Christina McDermott and the Rev. Kris Sledge are also attending with Bishop Héctor A. Burgos-Núñez. Christina is Susquehanna's Associate Lay Leader and Rev. Sledge is the Lead Pastor at Journey Church in Harrisburg, PA. If you attended the 2025 Upper New York Annual Conference Session, you may remember Rev. Sledge, who joined the Rev. Rachel Gilmore to lead a teaching moment on their co-authored book, Followers Under 40. The book offers practical strategies and wisdom for engaging Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha in ministry.
