DISASTER RESPONSE
Disasters can overwhelm communities and disrupt access to basic needs. United Methodists respond through UMCOR, Volunteers in Mission, and disaster teams, offering both practical aid and compassionate care as communities rebuild. UMCOR ensures all designated gifts support disaster response.

RESPONSE AND RECOVERY
Disaster Response Ministry provides leadership in disaster preparedness, relief, and recovery, equipping local churches with training, resources, and volunteer support. In partnership with VOAD, UMCOR, and other organizations, teams respond to disasters both within the conference and across the country.
In 2025, the Upper New York Disaster Response team trained 22 new Early Response Team (ERT) members and contributed more than 2,000 volunteer hours. Teams served communities including the St. Regis Mohawk Reservation, Newark Valley, Canastota, Rome, and Rochester, and also deployed to Georgia and Wisconsin to assist other conferences.
NEIGHBORHOOD HUBS
Neighborhood Hubs are UMCOR relief supply networks throughout Upper New York Conference where local churches can both drop off completed kits and request supplies. We encourage kits to be used for both natural and socio-economic disasters.
