From Bishop Burgos: UNY Cabinet Transitions

Dear Susquehanna and Upper New York clergy and laity community,
Grace and peace to you in Christ.
Earlier this summer, the Rev. Dr. Sherri Rood and the Rev. Bob Kolvik‑Campbell shared their intent to move to a retirement relationship at the end of the 2026–27 appointment year and transition out of the Susquehanna & Upper New York Cabinet on June 30, 2027.
Rev. Dr. Rood currently serves as Superintendent for the Finger Lakes and Crossroads districts and as dean of the UNY Cabinet. Rev. Kolvik‑Campbell serves as Superintendent for the Binghamton and Oneonta districts.
Rev. Dr. Sherri Rood began serving as a pastor on July 1, 1992, marking 35 years of ministry. In 2011, she was appointed District Superintendent for an eight‑year term before returning to the local church. In 2022, she was invited back to the cabinet for a second term. At the end of her tenure, she will have served 13 years on the cabinet, including six as dean. In her intent letter, Rev. Rood wrote, “It has been a joy and at times a demanding endeavor to serve on cabinet. Over the years I have been blessed to work with faithful and creative laity and clergy. I trust The United Methodist Church will continue to be a conduit of grace as we faithfully follow Jesus by serving God and all of God’s people.”
Rev. Bob Kolvik‑Campbell began serving on July 1, 1977, marking 50 years of ministry. He was appointed District Superintendent in 2022 and will have served five years in the cabinet at the end of his tenure. In his intent letter, Rev. Kolvik‑Campbell shared, “With God’s help, the care and support of Bishop Héctor, fellow superintendents, clergy, laity, and my wonderful spouse, Nancy, I have been blessed in this ministry. Through disaffiliations, closures, and the birth of new disciples of Jesus and wonderful collaborations, love has always been present. It has not always been easy, but I continue to hear the call to serve with joy in all I do.”
Both Rev. Dr. Rood and Rev. Kolvik‑Campbell have served the church and the cabinet with excellence. Their love for God and God’s people is evident in all they do. Over the years, they have offered faithful pastoral presence and clear, graceful, visionary leadership.
On behalf of the cabinet, I give thanks to God for these transformative leaders and the countless ways they have served the reign of God through the ministries of The United Methodist Church.
Please join me in celebrating the ministries of Rev. Dr. Sherri Rood and Rev. Bob Kolvik‑Campbell and in praying for them and the cabinet during this year of transition. I will share more with the UNY clergy community soon about the discernment process for the next superintendents.
Thank you for the ways you make the love of Jesus Christ visible and tangible in the communities you serve—loving boldly, serving joyfully, and leading courageously—so that lives and whole communities encounter Christ’s healing and liberating love.
