UNY ERT and volunteers give hope to Mohawk District storm survivors

Almost a month after the Halloween storm and subsequent Sauquoit creek flooding throughout the Mohawk District, many residents are still without heat, water, or electricity. Over 100 residents experienced flood waters that filled their basements from floor to ceiling and up to the top of the floorboards or higher on the first floor. Dave Alexander and the mission team at Endwell United Methodist Church are again coordinating the collection and delivery of shoeboxes for the Red Bird Mission. Red Bird Mission is a poverty-relief organization that serves a remote, impoverished population in Bell, Clay, and Leslie counties in southeastern Kentucky. Hurricane Dorian has devastated the Bahamas, especially the islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama. The storm basically came to a standstill as it pummeled the islands, causing major flooding, extreme destruction, and even death.
