Pastoral appointments celebrated at Annual Conference

October 9, 2022 / By Tara Barnes, Director of Denominational Relations, United Women in Faith

Upper New York Resident Bishop Mark Webb took time Saturday Oct. 8 during the 2022 Annual Conference to recognize and celebrate the clergy appointments that began July 1, 2022.

“You have been called by God and chosen by the people of God for leadership in the church,” he said to the conference’s clergy. “This ministry is a blessing, it’s a privilege, and it’s a serious responsibility. It recognizes your special gifts and calls you to work among us, with us, and for us, in deep love and gratitude. we thank you for accepting this call.”

Bishop Webb explained that throughout the year the cabinet consults with clergy, staff-parish relations committees, and local congregations to prayerfully discern God’s call and then invite clergy and laity to work in partnership for the glory of God.

United Methodist pastors serve where Bishops appoint them in a system called itinerancy.

Bishop Webb directed attendees to view the list of pastors and the churches they are serving on the Conference website.
