Best wishes to Ryan Siver in his new endeavor

March 19, 2021 / By Shannon Hodson / .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

A week from today will be the last day that Ryan Siver will serve as Skye Farm Camp & Retreat Center’s Site Director. Ryan has served as Skye Farm’s Site Director for five years and will miss his home nestled in the Adirondacks as well as his position. Ryan said, “I have really enjoyed getting to know the volunteers over the years and will miss them.”

Ryan has accepted a position as Site Director for Camp Fontanalle, a Methodist camp in Nebraska, part of the Great Plains Conference.

Why a move so far away? Ryan is originally from Iowa and from his new home, he, his four children, and his wife Amanda will be an hour drive away from his sister and many friends and family.

Ryan has enjoyed the many accomplishments that have taken place at Skye Farm over the past five years, including major building projects like a new lodge and new maintenance center.

Bill Gottchalk Fielding, Upper New York Director of Connectional Ministries and Executive Assistant to the Bishop, has worked closely with Ryan over the past year. He said, “I’ve loved having the chance to work with Ryan this past year. His deep faith and commitment to the camp and retreat ministry have inspired me. During his time at Skye Farm, he’s overseen the planning and construction of new retreat buildings, expanded the kind and scope of programming, and led the site through a pandemic with great care. I wish him all the best as he moves on.”

Camp Fontanelle is currently putting together an action plan as to what the summer will look like. With fewer coronavirus cases in Nebraska than in Upper New York, Camp Fontanelle may be opening registration for summer camp.

Ryan is looking forward to the fall at Camp Fontanelle. He said, “The camp has fall family weekends with a 9-acre corn maze. That is going to be so much fun!”

Skye Farm will be left in good hands after Ryan’s departure. Jess Schload will serve as Skye Farm’s Interim Director.

Bill Gottschalking Fielding said, “I’m thrilled Jess has agreed to serve as Skye Farm’s Interim Director starting in May. He has served sites around the country for many years and now in retirement is helping sites like Skye Farm transition from one permanent director to another. He’s really excited to be coming to Skye Farm and I look forward to working with him.”

Please wish Ryan Siver success and happiness in his new endeavors and offer a warm welcome to Jess Schload.
