    Wesley Theological Seminary
    Buffalo, COS Extension School

    Welcome!

The Course of Study Extension School in Buffalo, NY, began in 2004 at the request of the Board of Ordained Ministry of the former Western New York Conference. The new program was co-founded by Wendy Deichmann, an elder and theological educator in the Conference and Cliff Cliver, a dedicated local pastor who was then serving as president of the Local Pastors Association, with approval of the Board of Directors of the UM Course of Study Program seated in Nashville, TN. The School was developed to serve part-time Local Pastors in Upstate New York and the surrounding region who could not readily access more distant offerings.

The staff and students are grateful to the office at the Wesley Course of Study Program in Washington, DC, for its oversight and relationship with us. As the Regional COS School, Wesley has a deep commitment to our program and the ongoing support of our students and staff. We are also grateful to United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, for leadership in development of the program, and for educational, financial and technological resourcing. Appreciation is due to the Boards of Ordained Ministry of Upper New York and surrounding Conferences for their guidance and financial support for our local pastors and to the many churches, family members, and local communities that support this program by providing moral and financial support and prayers for pastors who are committed to continuing their education in order to better serve their local congregation.

Thank you for the privilege of serving you, and for your continued prayers and support as we together serve the mission of The United Methodist Church: to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Rev. Gail Lewis, Director and Registrar
