The Upper New York Conference of The United Methodist Church

    2024 General Conference

    United Methodist General Conference 2024

General Conference is scheduled for April 23-May 3, 2024 at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Originally scheduled for 2020, it's been postponed three times due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In December 2022, the United Methodist Church’s highest court ruled that new delegate elections “are not required” for the long-delayed and potentially pivotal 2024 General Conference. All Upper New York (UNY) Conference delegates elected at the 2019 UNY Annual Conference will be able to serve at the 2024 General Conference. There is no need for new elections. Click here to read more.

General Conference was originally scheduled for May 5-15, 2020 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In May 2021, it was moved to August 29 – Sept. 7, 2021 in Minneapolis. The Commission determined that it was not feasible to safely hold an in-person meeting involving all delegates even in 2021. It was further postponed until August 29 – September 6, 2022 due to visa concerns for delegate presence and participation from around the world along with coronavirus concerns.

With more than 134,000 members, the Upper New York Annual (Regional) Conference of The United Methodist Church comprises 865 local churches and 85 new faith communities in 12 districts, covering 48,000 square miles in 49 of the 62 counties in New York state. Our mission is to “live the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to be God’s love with our neighbors in all places."
