    Perspectives: Day in the Life

A Day in the Life: Chris Lupini

April 9, 2018 / By Chris Lupini, Welcoming and Support Specialist

I started my journey with the Upper New York Conference June of 2017. I was hired on as the Welcome and Support Specialist for the United Methodist Center. One of my roles is getting the chance to talk and meet with different types of people from all of our ministry areas. I get to talk with pastors from our local and regional churches. I also get the chance to know folks from our 12 districts along with our Camp and Retreat Ministry.

Here’s an example of what a day may looks like for me:

I may start my day at 8:30 a.m. by checking emails and returning phone calls.

It’s Friday today so by 9:30 a.m., I join staff for coffee hour; we talk about everything from Shannon’s new house that is being built to the last piece of furniture that Mary’s dog, Daisy, destroyed.

When I return to my desk at 10 a.m., I answer any questions regarding our Conference Center and ministry areas through the phone calls that come in up until lunch. I may also assist in preparing mailings from the Benefits Office right down through the Finance Department.

Throughout this time, people come in for meetings; I greet them and show them the way to their conference room.

At 12:30 p.m., I break for lunch and often join some of our Conference staff in our Media Center seating area.

After lunch, I help coordinate the Conference Leadership Team (CLT) meeting that is taking place this weekend. I assist them in making sure their hospitality needs are met, including helping them determine a menu from Koffee King.

I then work with other food and office vendors, helping to ensure the best hospitality service as possible for our Conference Center.

By 4:30 p.m. my day is complete!
