Back to mission at the Mission Central HUB: How you can help

June 26, 2020 / By Mike Block, UNY Director of Missional Engagement / .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Praise God! Following New York State reopening guidelines, as of June 1, the Upper New York Conference Office has phased in a limited number of the Conference staff, including Mary Beth Ingalls and me at the UNY Mission Central HUB.

While we are not yet able to have volunteers in the building, you can still help the UNY Mission Central HUB’s ministry. Here are a couple ways you can help:

    1. Disaster Supplies Collections: Natural disasters can strike at any moment. With flood and hurricane season upon us, we need to be prepared to assist. The ongoing support of gathering and verifying materials for the UMCOR Relief Kits continues to be an important mission. Until the HUB can accept drop off donations, we ask each church to hang on to the supplies until they can be brought to the HUB. While we cannot take drop off donations at this time, we can take supplies ordered and shipped directly from companies like Amazon. By ordering through Amazon, the supplies can be shipped directly to the UNY Mission Central HUB (7481 Henry Clay Blvd., Liverpool, NY 13088).Click here for UMCOR approved supply list.
    2. HUB on the Road Assembled Kits: We continue to encourage outreach and mission engagement groups to assemble disaster relief kits in their communities.  You can do this by ordering supplies shipped to your local organization and assembling the kits with your group. Please be sure to follow all the NYS health guidelines when you do this. When we are ready again to accept assembled kits through these HUB on the Road efforts, we will make an announcement. Click here for HUB on the Road details.

Thank you for all you do to help your neighbors both local and afar. God bless you all and thank you for your continued volunteering in these unsettled times. Folks have accomplished amazing work with their food banks, blessing boxes, reaching out to those who are homebound, and more. If you are looking to do the above mentioned mission ideas or are looking for other mission-oriented ideas to get involved with during this pandemic, feel free to email me at mikeblock@unyumc.org.
