Skye Farm offering summer programming that will appeal to all

May 24, 2022 / By Shannon Hodson / .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Whether your child loves sports and games, diving deep into God’s natural creation, or doing wacky things like having ice cream for breakfast, Skye Farm Camp & Retreat Center has something to offer them.

Robyn Vernon, the new site director of Skye Farm, said, “I am really excited to see Skye Farm come alive with campers having fun and making memories all summer long.”

The COVID pandemic has hampered children’s opportunity to experience summer camp the past two summers. Following health departments’ advice, Upper New York is taking every measure possible to make sure that children and youth can safely enjoy camp this year.

This summer at Skye Farm, your child can enjoy the following types of camps:

    Adirondack Odyssey camps:

The Adirondack Odyssey camps offered at Skye Farm allow children and youth to explore the 400 acres of beauty that Skye Farm offers in its sweet spot, nestled in the Adirondacks. Children ages 9-12 can enjoy an Odyssey camp July 10-15. They can try a night in a hammock, climb trees, learn about the forest around them, and enjoy special demonstrations from wild animal experts. Children ages 12-15 can do the same for the week of July 10-15 in addition to a trip to Adirondack’s Xtreme Adventure Park for their high ropes course. There is also a special backpackers Odyssey camp July 10-15 where campers ages 12-15 have the added activities of learning how to pack their backpack, cook over a fire, and set up a campsite.

    Campolodean

A variety of classic Campolodean camps are offered for both the 9-12 age group and the 12-15 age group July 3-8 and also July 31-August 5. You can attend a classic week of Campolodean or more specialized session like dok tok which is all things water, Outpost which is where you can experience the more rugged side of camp, or creativity where you can tap into your artistic side. These camps are filled with wacky fun like the ice cream for breakfast, slime, and fun games.

    Camplympics

The Camplympics camps will excite the kids and teens who love competition. There will be a variety of events for every skill. The participants in these camps will enjoy the medals and closing ceremonies! Camplymics is offered for both 9-12 year-olds and 12-15 year-olds July 17-22.

    Skye Faves:

Robyn said, “Skye Faves is all the unique things that campers enjoy here at Skye Farm.” Campers will be able to build boats and race them, make and play with slime, stay up late one night and enjoy glow-in-the-dark activities, and so much more. Skye Faves offered for both 9-12 year-olds and 12-15 year-olds July 24-July 29.

    Skye Farm Adventurers

The last week of camp at Skye Farm, Aug. 7-12, is specifically dedicated to younger children, 3-10 year-olds. There will be singing, playing, swimming, hiking, and creating. For 3-7 year-olds, there will be the “Little Ones” Camp from Aug. 7-Aug. 9; children need to be accompanied by a guardian for this camp. There will be a Mini Adventurers Camp, also two overnights, offered Aug. 7-9 for 7-8 year-olds; children do not need to be accompanied by a guardian for this camp. And there will be a full-week Adventurer camp for 7-10 year-olds offered Aug. 7-12.

Robyn said, “We have been busy getting Skye Farm ready for campers to join us in just a few weeks! It is of our utmost importance that we keep the community of Skye Farm as safe as possible. Our goal is for the campers and guests to create meaningful connections with the Skye Farm community and with Christ. I believe the program opportunities offered at Skye Farm this summer will help people to grow closer to God and transform lives.”

Keep in mind that one Upper New York’s safety procedures is to offer these camps at reduced capacity; so, register soon! There are scholarship opportunities available for people that need it; please reach out to the Skye Farm office with any questions.
