    Saving the Soul of Our Nation, State, and Church: NEJCAH Annual Meeting

    The Northeastern Jurisdictional Commission on Archives and History (NEJCAH) invites clergy, laity, historians, archivists, and all who care about the church’s witness to justice and memory to its 2026 Annual Meeting and Program, Saving the Soul of Our Nation, State, and Church, to be held May 12 through May 14. The meeting is hosted by the Greater New Jersey Commission on Archives and History in partnership with Pennington United Methodist Church in Pennington, NJ. 

    This three-day gathering will explore how faith, history, and archives help shape the moral and spiritual life of the church and society—past, present, and future. While the full annual meeting spans three days, the first two days feature special programs that are open to all and designed to engage a broad audience. 

    Day One: Faith Forum - Striving to End the Sin of Racism in Church and State: Contemporary and Historical Methodist Perspectives 

    Keynote speakers include: 

    • Bishop Cynthia Moore-Koikoi, Resident Bishop, EPA & GNJ Episcopal Area 
    • Bishop Ernest S. Lyght, Northeastern Jurisdiction (Retired) 
    • Rupert Hall, Jr. JD, CEO & Founder of Hope For The City Foundation, Trenton, NJ 
    • Kevin Dusenberry, Digital Archivist, General Commission on Archives and History and Archivist, GNJ Commission on Archives and History 

    Together, these leaders will reflect on historical witness, contemporary realities, and the role of archives and memory in shaping faithful action today. 

    Day Two: Historical Tour: Saving the Soul of Our Nation and State 

    • Washington's Crossing State Park 
    • Turning Point UMC, Trenton, NJ 
    • Princeton Theological Seminary Library and Archives 
    • Princeton Battlefield 
    • Monmouth Battlefield State Park 
    • Historic Tenant Church 
    • Captain Webb's Ministry in Central New Jersey and the Growth of the Methodist Episcopal Church 

    Keynote Speaker: 

    • The Rev. Kevin Newburg, Ph.D., Associate Teaching Professor in the History of Christianity and Methodist Studies at Drew Theological School
