New York and New England Foundations Joint Path Forward
February 17, 2026 / By UNY Communications
Editor's Note: The following message was sent to United Methodists of Upper New York on February 17 on behalf of Bishop Héctor A. Burgos-Núñez about a new partnership between two United Methodist foundations.
“I thank my God… because of your partnership in the gospel.” - Philippians 1:3–5
Dear partners in ministry,
I am pleased to share an important development that will bring new energy and expanded support to the ministries of the Upper New York Conference.

The United Methodist Foundation of New England and the United Methodist Frontier Foundation are joining forces to serve churches across New York and New England as a single entity. This partnership combines the Frontier Foundation’s long history of socially responsible investment management with the New England Foundation’s strong record of ministry services, leadership development, and strategic support for local churches.
What began as a simple learning conversation among board members quickly grew into a shared vision for strengthening congregations. After months of constructive dialogue, both organizations agreed to unite their efforts to better resource the mission and ministry of our churches.
For more than 50 years, Methodist foundations have helped New York congregations steward resources for ministry. This new partnership builds on that legacy and will offer a broader range of services without relying on ministry shares.
Beginning this summer, the combined Foundations will offer, among other resources:
- Ministry Grants
- Planned Giving & Donor Development
- Racial Equity & Justice Grants
- Stewardship Resources
- Leadership Development
- Building & Property Consulting
- Investment & Financial Services
- Loan Programs
Interest is already growing, and Upper New York participants have joined recent virtual sessions. More webinars and information opportunities will be available soon.
During the spring, the foundation’s resourcing staff will partner with the Conferences’ Directors of Connectional Ministries to identify the most effective ways to deploy these tools so that leaders and congregations are well-equipped for fruitful ministry.

We give thanks for the Spirit’s movement across New York and New England as we step into this new season of collaboration and ministry.
Together in Christ’s mission,
Bishop Héctor A. Burgos-Núñez
