Two districts have new Superintendents. The new District Superintendent for the Oneonta District is Rev. Everett Bassett. The new District Superintendent for the Genesee Valley District is Rev. Vonda Fossitt (Editor’s Note: We will be posting our article about her installation service in the near future). An installation service is a time for members of a district to celebrate the new appointment of one who has been called to a special ministry of supervision and leadership.

Members of the Oneonta District will celebrate Rev. Bassett’s appointment on Sunday Sept.18 from 4-7 p.m. at Elm Park United Methodist Church.

A mission project is planned for this event; UMCOR flood bucket prepared by district churches will be accepted as well flood relief donations. Find out what goes into a flood bucket kit on the UMCOR website.

Attendees to Rev. Bassett’s installation are asked to bring a signature dish from their church to pass. If you would like to arrive at the event early to help with kitchen prep, it would be greatly appreciated. Contact Teresa at Oneontadistrict@unyumc.org if you are interested.

For members of Oneonta District churches, the District would like photos showcasing anything that makes you proud of your church. These photos will be used in a presentation.

There will be an interpretive dance performance at Rev. Bassett’s installation service as well. Oneonta District church members are welcome to participate; times for rehearsals will be determined in the near future. If you are interested please contact Sharon Bassett at ebassett@gmail.com.

Reservations are not needed for the installation services, and the public is invited to attend.
