Resolution results in important addition to compensation form

The Upper New York Conference Board of Pension & Health Benefits has provided an update on the progress of undertaking Resolution UNYAC2015.12: Health Insurance for All Clergy and Local Pastors that was passed during the 2015 session of Annual Conference concerning UNY’s health insurance policies.
Below is the action portion of the resolution:
“Therefore, be it resolved that the Conference Board of Pension and Health Benefits (CBOPHB) explore the option of providing health insurance for all part-time clergy and local pastors, students appointed to attend school for their studies, and students appointed to charges (part or full-time) while completing their studies and
“Therefore, be it further resolved that the Conference survey each charge to determine by category, where each clergy and local pastor obtain health insurance and the affordability of that health insurance. The categories are as follows: Healthflex; covered under spouse’s plan; covered by both HealthFlex and spouse’s plan; state insurance/not Medicare; Medicare; other.”
To that end, the CBOPHB is doing two things:
- Exploring three options for the provision of health insurance to all clergy and the resulting financial implications; and
- Surveying active clergy about their current health insurance via the 2016 compensation form. The cost of health insurance can be listed on Line 9 and all applicable health insurance coverage should be checked in the survey area at the bottom of the form.
Clergy are asked to provide the requested information in order for CBOPHB to fulfill the mandate to report back to the 2016 session of Annual Conference, and the board thanks you for your cooperation.
