    District Superintendent Rev. Vonda Fossitt’s Memorial Service

    Rev. Vonda J. Fossitt died on May 11, 2022 at the age of 56. She was serving as the Genesee Valley District Superintendent (DS) and in January 2022 was placed on short-term medical leave. In addition to District Superintendent, DS Vonda served several Upper New York churches, including Binghamton: High Street UMC, Brookvale UMC, Albion UMC, and Rochester: Wesley UMC.

    A Celebration of Life and Resurrection was held on May 26 at New Light UMC. Condolences can be sent to DS Vonda's mother, Laverne Ampadu at 110 Mona Dr., Amherst, NY 14226.

    Following the announcement of DS Vonda's death, Bishop Mark J. Webb sent a letter on May 12 to clergy in the Genesee Valley District offering prayers and condolences. In the letter, Bishop Webb expressed thanks to the Rev. Ted Anderson, the Rev. David Underwood, and District Administrative Assistant Betsy O’Flynn for their continued leadership, ministry, and support. Click here to read Bishop Webb's heartfelt message.
