General Board of Global Ministries Missionaries the Rev. Alex Awad and his wife, Brenda, have volunteered in Israel/Palestine for the past 26 years. The couple recently returned to the Upper New York Conference – the couple served as peace and justice educators in upstate New York from 1990 to 1991 – to share their experience through the years in Israel/Palestine.

Both teachers from Georgia, the two have dedicated their time to teaching at Bethlehem Bible College – founded by Alex’s brother – in Jerusalem. The college, which also functions as a community center, offers Bible classes and Christian study, and has tour guide and mass media programs.

The Awads have been sponsored by The United Methodist Church for 26 years and are able to continue their missionary service with the help of apportioned funds, which make ministries of the Church possible.
