Regional Imagine No Racism 2.0 events to take place this fall

    August 12, 2019 / By UNY Communications

The Upper New York Conference's Commission on Religion & Race will continue Imagine No Racism (INR) trainings this fall and are calling this version INR 2.0. The fall training events are specifically designed to prepare people who have experienced INR’s initial curriculum to facilitate INR 2.0 conversations. Those who may be discerning a call to facilitate INR conversations are welcome. The Facilitator Trainings will kick off on Saturday Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Upper New York Conference United Methodist Center in Liverpool with the Rev. Michelle E. Ledder from the General Conference Commission on Religion & Race (GCORR) as the featured speaker.

As a Director of Program Ministries at GCORR, Rev. Ledder crafts and facilitates initiatives focusing on the Institutional Equity priority of GCORR's Ministry Model. She works to help all levels of the Connection create the beloved community with systems, policies, and processes that level the playing field for everyone.

Based on feedback from the 2018, the INR 2.0 structure forges a stronger scriptural connection to INR lessons and offers a flexible format. This training  will help refresh and update your knowledge base as well as help those who are now ready to start facilitating groups as part of the Imagine No Racism initiative.

If you're unable to attend the initial INR event, there will be opportunities to attend subsequent events in churches throughout UNY in September and October that will review this content.

Trained UNY CCORR leaders will lead these 10 a.m. -3 p.m. events:

    Sept. 14:

Batavia UMC (Niagara Frontier District) with Dr. Scott Johnson and Georgia Whitney

Endwell UMC (Binghamton District) with Rev. Harold Wheat and Dr. Blenda Smith

    Sept. 21:

Christ Church; Olean (Cornerstone District) with Charles Syms and Georgia Whitney
