The Cornerstone District of the Upper New York Conference of the United Methodist Church is located in the southwestern corner of New York State. The District is comprised of 75 United Methodist and Federated churches in three counties—Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany.
The Cornerstone District is in the southwestern corner of the state, bordered on two sides by Pennsylvania. The district has a history of teamwork between the superintendent and the pastors who meet on a monthly basis. This teamwork also extends to the lay leadership of the churches who meet twice a year with the superintendent and pastors for the ministry equipping school. The Cornerstone district in also noted for its emphasis on mission work within the district, conference and globally. The approach which emerges from these emphases is directed toward our people becoming ever more effective communicators of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Communication is centered in witnessing in word and deed.
